What is ACM?

ACM is real-time adaptive machining software from the Siemens CNC shopfloor portfolio. It continuously monitors spindle load during cutting and automatically adjusts the feed rate to match the actual conditions at the tool tip — speeding up through light cuts, easing off in heavy engagement, and protecting the tool and spindle throughout.

Your part programs stay exactly as they are. ACM works on top of them.

What it delivers

  • Shorter cycle times. Siemens application data shows typical savings of 38% in contour milling, 34% in slot milling, 37% in 3D milling and 28% in drilling. Across real production, customers typically see 10–30% shorter machining times.
  • Up to twice the tool life. Tools are protected from overload and changed when they are actually worn — not on a fixed schedule.
  • Fewer broken tools and scrapped parts. ACM detects tool wear and breakage as it happens and reacts before damage spreads.
  • Higher process reliability. Consistent cutting conditions mean predictable quality, shift after shift.

Know your process — the data ACM gives you

Every ACM-equipped machine reports on what really happens during production:

  • Machine and tool utilisation
  • Actual feed rates versus programmed feed rates
  • Time savings, operation by operation
  • Tool wear and remaining tool life

This is the information you need to optimise your machining workflows — and to prove the improvement to your own customers.

Who is it for?

ACM earns its keep wherever spindle time is expensive and tooling costs matter: aerospace, automotive, power generation, cutting-tool production and mould manufacturing. If your machines run Siemens Sinumerik controls, ACM integrates directly; contact us about other control platforms.

Why 6-sense-automation?

  • We are a Siemens software partner, and our engineers are factory-trained by Siemens on the ACM suite.
  • Our background is aerospace machining at the most demanding level — XXL machines producing structural components for the Airbus A350 and A400M, among others.
  • With offices in Germany and the UK, we install, configure and support ACM across Europe.

Prove it on one machine

Not sure whether ACM fits your production? Start with a single machine. We install ACM, run it on your real parts, and show you the recorded time savings and tool-life data. The numbers make the decision for you.
